Planned Giving is Strategic Giving
What are your priorities?
Ask yourself, what matters most to you? Is it family, children or grandchildren, or care for aging parents? Maybe it’s the community around you: parks, pools, and healthcare. As our population ages, end-of-life care may become a priority.
The answers to these questions define your priorities.
When your charitable gifts match your priorities, you are making strategic gifts.
Making a strategic gift could be as simple as making a bequest in your Will, or donating publicly traded securities or proceeds from an RSP, a RIF, or a life insurance policy.
First, you need to get to know us, and we need to get to know you and your priorities. We would be pleased to speak with you about the various ways we can help you make a strategic gift and achieve your priorities.

Memorial Giving
Making a gift to Huron Hospice in memory of a loved one who has died is a wonderful way to honour their memory and help ensure that we can continue our mission. When you donate in memory of someone, we will notify the family of your gift and send you a tax receipt. Please ensure you provide the name and address of the next of kin when you make your gift.
Monthly Giving Is Giving Made Easy
Some donors choose to divide their yearly giving into twelve equal installments. Monthly donations provide a reliable stream of funding year-round. You ensure that all our services remain available at no cost to residents or their families. Monthly donors also like the option of dividing their gifts into 12 equal payments. This minimizes the impact on their cash flow while maximizing their impact at Huron Hospice.
Think of it this way;
$31/month supports one person to attend an 8-week grief support group.
$41/ month provides all meals for two people during their time at the hospice. ($500 per year)
$83 / Month = pays for a day of care at Bender House. ($1,000 per day)
Your annual gift of $500 works out to $1.36 per day. A gift of $1,000 works out to $2.73 each day. Both are less than a cup of coffee each day from your favourite coffee shop.
Gifts in any denomination can be made automatically by credit card and can be designated as a memorial tribute. You will receive a single consolidated tax receipt for the total donation amount, issued at the beginning of the next calendar year. To learn more and become a monthly donor, contact Christopher Walker at 519-525-7352 or chris.walker@huronhospice.ca.
When you choose to give monthly, you provide Huron Hospice with reliable funding that allows us to plan ahead and respond to the needs of those we serve year-round.
Contact Christopher Walker at 519-525-7352 or chris.walker@huronhospice.ca.
Donation of Goods
We are grateful to donors for the donations of goods that assist us at Bender House. Items can range from toilet paper and shampoo to furniture and art. These donations help us cut our overhead costs. Please contact us in advance to find out whether we need your donation at the time you wish to make it. Sometimes we will gratefully accept it. If we are not currently in need of the item, we will thank you and suggest that you donate it elsewhere.
When donations are left with us without inquiring in advance, we may donate them to another charity or a service such as Goodwill to ensure someone else benefits if we can’t. Please contact Kelli McGregor at 519-525-8648 or kelli.mcgregor@huronhospice.ca.
Memorial Forest
Commemorate the life of a loved one by planting a tree.
As a tree grows over the years, it symbolizes strength, shelter, and durability. They create a place of calm and peace, a place where moments matter. People often plant trees as a living tribute and source of comfort in memory of those they have lost. In a forest, trees become homes for wildlife. In a single year, a tree will capture up to 22 kg of carbon and release oxygen.
The Memorial Forest is located behind Bender House, along the Tranquility Trail. Native tree species are planted to create a mixed forest suitable for our area. Every year, people donate to plant a tree in memory of someone special who has passed away.
You can arrange to plant a tree in memory of someone who was close to you. A tree costs $395, and payment is made in the form of a donation. Orders are due each year on August 31st. Tree donations can be made online by clicking the link below, calling Christopher Walker at 519-525-7352, or emailing chris.walker@huronhospice.ca. A tax receipt for your donation will be issued.
Trees are planted in the fall. The name of your loved one will be placed on the memorial sign at the forest's entrance. A dedication service will be held each year on the first Sunday of October at 2:00 p.m. at the forest's entrance. All are welcome to attend.
Anyone who wishes to remember a friend or loved one is welcome to participate.

Pet Memorial
Create a lasting tribute by commemorating the life of your pet
At Huron Hospice, we understand how deeply pets touch our lives. The Pet Memorial is a special place dedicated to honouring the cherished memory of beloved animal companions who brought love, comfort, and joy into our lives.
The Pet Memorial is located within the peaceful grounds of Huron Hospice’s Bender House, beside the Memorial Forest and along the Tranquillity Trail. This serene space offers a quiet moment of reflection and remembrance.
Whether you visit to reflect, remember, or feel close once more, this memorial stands as a gentle tribute to the bonds that never fade.
We invite you to celebrate the life and memory of your cherished companion by adding their name to the Huron Hospice Pet Memorial Wall.
How to dedicate a plaque in memory of your beloved pet.
The cost of each customized plaque is $225.00, which includes a tax receipt for $200, which is the donation portion of your purchase. Plaques are 5” x 10”.
A dedication service will be held near the Memorial, on the second Sunday of June at 2:00 pm. All are welcome to attend.
Huron Hospice also offers grief recovery programs, which include the loss of a pet.
To purchase a commemorative plaque for the Pet Memorial, or for any further questions regarding the program, please get in touch with Christopher Walker at chris.walker@huronhospice.ca or phone 519-525-7352. You can also complete the form by clicking the “Order Plaque” button.
