Planned Giving is Strategic Giving
What are your priorities?
Ask yourself, what matters most to you? Is it family, children or grandchildren, or care for aging parents? Maybe it’s the community around you: parks, pools, and healthcare. As our population ages, end-of-life care may become a priority.
The answers to these questions define your priorities.
When your charitable gifts match your priorities, you are making strategic gifts.
Making a strategic gift could be as simple as making a bequest in your Will, or donating publicly traded securities or proceeds from an RSP, a RIF, or a life insurance policy.
First, you need to get to know us, and we need to get to know you and your priorities. We would be pleased to speak with you about the various ways we can help you make a strategic gift and achieve your priorities.

The Candlelight Memorial Walk
Saturday, April 11, 2026
As the sun sets in Huron County, join us for the annual Candlelight Memorial Walk at the Stanley Community Centre in Varna.
The Taylor Trail will be lit by candles, and the comforting voices of the Solace Bedside Singers will echo through the trees. We will serve complimentary hot chocolate and cookies, served during the dedication ceremony.
Donate to light a candle on the path and have your loved one’s memorial name read out during the ceremony. All proceeds support Huron Hospice.
On love, loss, and the journey of life, this is a truly special evening of remembrance.
The next Candlelight Memorial Walk will be held in early April, 2027.
(Special thanks to Conrad Kuiper for this video.)
Memorial Forest
Commemorate the life of a loved one by planting a tree.
As a tree grows over the years, it symbolizes strength, shelter, and durability. They create a place of calm and peace, a place where moments matter. People often plant trees as a living tribute and source of comfort in memory of those they have lost. In a forest, trees become homes for wildlife. In a single year, a tree will capture up to 22 kg of carbon and release oxygen.
The Memorial Forest is located behind Bender House, along the Tranquility Trail. Native tree species are planted to create a mixed forest suitable for our area. Every year, people donate to plant a tree in memory of someone special who has passed away.
You can arrange to plant a tree in memory of someone who was close to you. A tree costs $395, and payment is made in the form of a donation. Orders are due each year on August 31st. Tree donations can be made online by clicking the link below, calling Christopher Walker at 519-525-7352, or emailing chris.walker@huronhospice.ca. A tax receipt for your donation will be issued.
Trees are planted in the fall. The name of your loved one will be placed on the memorial sign at the forest's entrance. A dedication service will be held each year on the first Sunday of October at 2:00 p.m. at the forest's entrance. All are welcome to attend.
Anyone who wishes to remember a friend or loved one is welcome to participate.

Pet Memorial
Create a lasting tribute by commemorating the life of your pet
At Huron Hospice, we understand how deeply pets touch our lives. The Pet Memorial is a special place dedicated to honouring the cherished memory of beloved animal companions who brought love, comfort, and joy into our lives.
The Pet Memorial is located within the peaceful grounds of Huron Hospice’s Bender House, beside the Memorial Forest and along the Tranquillity Trail. This serene space offers a quiet moment of reflection and remembrance.
Whether you visit to reflect, remember, or feel close once more, this memorial stands as a gentle tribute to the bonds that never fade.
We invite you to celebrate the life and memory of your cherished companion by adding their name to the Huron Hospice Pet Memorial Wall.
