Memorial Giving
Making a gift to Huron Hospice in memory of a loved one who has died is a wonderful way to honour their memory and help ensure that we can continue our mission. When you donate in memory of someone, we will notify the family of your gift and send you a tax receipt. Please ensure you provide the name and address of the next of kin when you make your gift.
Monthly Giving Is Giving Made Easy
Some donors choose to divide their yearly giving into twelve equal installments. Monthly donations provide a reliable stream of funding year-round. You ensure that all our services remain available at no cost to residents or their families. Monthly donors also like the option of dividing their gifts into 12 equal payments. This minimizes the impact on their cash flow while maximizing their impact at Huron Hospice.
Think of it this way;
$31/month supports one person to attend an 8-week grief support group.
$41/ month provides all meals for two people during their time at the hospice. ($500 per year)
$83 / Month = pays for a day of care at Bender House. ($1,000 per day)
Your annual gift of $500 works out to $1.36 per day. A gift of $1,000 works out to $2.73 each day. Both are less than a cup of coffee each day from your favourite coffee shop.
Gifts in any denomination can be made automatically by credit card and can be designated as a memorial tribute. You will receive a single consolidated tax receipt for the total donation amount, issued at the beginning of the next calendar year. Make a Tribute Donation
A gift in memory of someone close to you who has died is a wonderful way to commemorate a life well-lived. A gift in honour of someone who has made an outstanding contribution to their community is a great way to recognize a person. You could also mark an important date, such as an anniversary or birthday, by asking friends to make a donation in lieu of a gift.
When you make a tribute gift in memory or in honour of someone, you are part of helping a family or individual create lasting memories. You also help Huron Hospice make moments matter.
When you donate in memory or in honour of someone, we will notify their family or the person of your gift. Please ensure you provide the name and address of the person we should notify about your gift.
Wings of a Dove
Wings of a Dove is the annual year-end fundraiser. When you make a gift to Wings of a Dove, you help us Make Moments Matter and ensure compassionate care is available at Huron Hospice at no cost to local families. Your gift ensures that Loss and Grief Support services remain free for individuals who need them.
Name-A-Brick
Moments Matter at Huron Hospice. Whether you give and support our home care and respite service, loss grief and bereavement service, or 24/7 hospice care at Bender House, you make moments matter. Now you can buy-a-brick to support these important services. When you buy-a-brick it will be placed in the Bender House Recognition Rock Garden. The garden is close to the main entrance to the hospice.
Consider purchasing a memorial brick on your own, with your family, with some friends or through your workplace. It can even be a teachable moment for young children. You may choose to put your name or the name of a loved one (In Memory Of) who has died on the brick.
Orders are due April 1 each year.
$500 – 6 inch X 12 inch with up to 3 lines of 16 characters per line.
$1,000 – 12 inch X 12 inch with up to 6 lines of 16 characters per line
$2,000 – 12 inch by 18 inch with up to ___ lines of 16 characters per line
Let us know the wording on the brick as you want it to appear (please print clearly). Engraving will be upper and lower case (not all upper case).
Donation of Goods
We are grateful to donors for the donations of goods that assist us at Bender House. Items can range from toilet paper and shampoo to furniture and art. These donations help us cut our overhead costs. Please contact us in advance to find out whether we need your donation at the time you wish to make it. Sometimes we will gratefully accept it. If we are not currently in need of the item, we will thank you and suggest that you donate it elsewhere.
When donations are left with us without inquiring in advance, we may donate them to another charity or a service such as Goodwill to ensure someone else benefits if we can’t. Please contact Kelli McGregor at 519-525-8648 or kelli.mcgregor@huronhospice.ca.
