About Us |
Huron Hospice is a dedicated team of Volunteers providing companionship, listening and emotional support to residents of our community who are facing a life threatening illness or injury. This care can be provided in a home, a hospital, or a long-term care setting. The Volunteers offer relief to enable primary caregivers to feel comfortable to take time away or rest. There are NO FEES for these services. Our Volunteers are people who display sensitivity, good communication skills, and willingness to help, and have respect for the privacy, dignity, and self-determination of the person. They are carefully screened and have completed an approved Volunteer Training Program. They receive ongoing education, supervision and group support. Site Coordinators in each community, under the direction of the Executive Director, ensure that trained volunteers are available and best suited to meet local needs. Agency governance is by a volunteer Board of Directors that is drawn from all our communities. We are a member agency of United Way of Perth-Huron. What is Huron Hospice? More information
